One person is confirmed to have been killed, along with nine others who have been injured at a shooting by two armed gunman at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory parade.
Towards the end of the parade, shots were fired near Union Station, which has ended with the death of one person, the local fire department has announced.
Many others were evacuated from where they were stood, including both Kansas and Missouri governors. "At the end of the Chiefs rally, shots were fired near Union Station. I have been evacuated and am out of harm’s way," Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly said on X.
Of the nine other victims, it's believed that three are in critical condition, five have serious injuries, and another has non-life threatening injuries.
Officials believe the shooting at the end of the Kansas City Chiefs celebratory Super Bowl parade is criminal in nature but is not initially believed to be terrorism, according to three law enforcement officials briefed on the case.
Two people were detained after the shooting near a garage west of Union Station, where the parade ended, the Kansas City Police Department said in a statement.
