Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is under fire and has been urged to apologise as he mocked Labour's "definition of a woman" during Prime Minister's Question as Brianna Ghey's mother watched on from the gallery.

Brianna Ghey, who was openly trans, was brutally murdered by two teens in Cheshire in 2023. Her mother, Esther, was sat in the gallery for PMQs a week after she called for the government to ban social media apps to under 16s.

Sunak attempted to attack Sir Keir Starmer over how Labour 'defines a woman' as he made reference to the amount of u-turns the Labour party has taken, in his view.

Starmer responded by saying: "of all the weeks to say that, when Brianna's mother is in this chamber. Shame."

Starmer then went on to attack Sunak by saying that he parades "as a man of integrity, when he has absolutely no responsibility."

The Labour leader added: “I think the role of the prime minister is to ensure that every single citizen in this country feels safe and respected, it’s a shame that the Prime Minister doesn’t share that.”

Starmer had opened the session by telling MPs: “This week the unwavering bravery of Brianna Ghey’s mother Esther has touched us all. As a father, I can’t even imagine the pain that she is going through and I am glad that she is with us in the gallery here today.”

The PM later did not acknowledge a request from Labour MP Liz Twist to apologise to Brianna's mother "for his insensitive comment."
