Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, has settled the remaining parts of his phone-hacking claim against the publisher of the Daily Mirror. He said he hopes authorities take action, and claimed Piers Morgan knew "what was going on."

In December, Prince Harry won a large part of his case against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN), being awarded nearly £141,000 as damages as a court ruled that his phone was hacked “to a modest extent” from the end of 2003 to April 2009.

Morgan was editor of The Mirror until 2004, and according to Justice Fancourt, he and other senior executives knew about phone hacking as a practice of the paper's journalists.

In a statement at the time, Morgan denied being aware of phone hacking during his time as editor, and said Harry “wouldn’t know truth if it slapped him in his California-tanned face". He further claimed Harry and his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, were trying to “destroy the British monarchy”.

On Friday, Prince Harry criticised Morgan’s “continued attacks” against him and called for action. In a statement read by his barrister, he said: "In light of this, we call again for the authorities to uphold the rule of law and to prove that no one is above it. That includes Mr Morgan, who as editor knew perfectly well what was going on, as the judge held.”

During the initial trial, Prince Harry became the first senior Royal in over 130 years to be cross-examined in a courtroom. The landmark ruling found there was “widespread and habitual” phone hacking by MGN from 2006 to 2011, “even to some extent” during the Leveson inquiry into media standards.

Prince Harry is still in a legal battle against the publisher of The Sun, The Daily Mail, and the Home Office. He said: "As I said back in December, our mission continues. I believe in the positive change it will bring for all of us. It is the very reason why I started this, and why I will continue to see it through to the end.”
