Woman dies after dog attack in Jaywick, Essex

A woman has been killed after she was attacked by two dogs in Jaywick, Essex. Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested on dangerous dog charges.

Officers were called to Hillman Avenue in Clacton-on-Sea shortly after 4pm yesterday and arrived to find a woman "seriously injured" on the scene where she was later pronounced dead.

Essex Police are investigating, but say they believe that "two dogs assaulted" the woman, who has not been named. Specialist officers have secured the scene and have told the public that they are safe.

Police also confirmed that two dogs were put down at the scene. The breed has not been made public as inquiries continue.

A 39-year-old man from Jaywick remains in custody after he was arrested on suspicion of dangerous dog offences.
